Engaging in a dialogue with companies is a necessary step for a long-term investor guided by the concept of sustainable development. Dialogue enhances company awareness in the fields of sustainable development and corporate governance best practice, thereby engaging a process of improvement. The ultimate objective is to increase the company’s long term value for its shareholders, but also for all its stakeholders.
The dialogue between shareholders and company management is a key to long term value. Ethos therefore founded the Ethos Engagement Pool. In the name of its members, the Pool engages in dialogue with the management of the 100 largest Swiss listed companies. Ethos proposes two solutions to institutional investors willing to participate in corporate engagement outside Switzerland:
Participation in permanent investor groups: Ethos advises pension funds that want to participate in active investor groups, by keeping abreast of the relevant issues for them and regularly reporting on the progress made on the issues.
Participation in international collaborative engagement: Ethos advises clients on a range of international collaborative engagement initiatives and provides material to support a client’s decision to join one or more of these initiatives. Ethos will assist the client in realising this collaboration and will produce a customised report.
